The History of the South Carolina American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Chapter

In 2004, the SC ACHE Chapter was formed with John Hales, FACHE, serving as the first chapter president. Rebecca Brewer, FACHE, then Regent for SC, agreed to have her Regent’s Advisory Council serve as the Board for the newly formed Chapter. Every member of ACHE living in SC automatically became a member of the Chapter, with no additional fees or membership requirements. This continues to be our practice today – automatic enrollment of any ACHE member living in SC with no additional fees or requirements.

In 2008, the Chapter developed an independent Board with Bill Manson, FACHE, serving as president. In 2011, Sue Shugart, FACHE, began her service as president and continues to lead the organization today.

The Board has developed three Local Program Councils (LPCs) and a number of Committees to continue expanding the services provided to our SC members.
