Please make plans to join us for the 2018 SCHA Annual Meeting on February 7-8 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Our theme for this meeting and throughout the year is One for Health and recognizes the need for hospitals to present a united front in creating and advocating for a better healthcare landscape for the communities we serve.
Our Annual Meeting convenes the state’s hospital leaders around SCHA’s priorities for the year, and I encourage you to attend so we can work together to advance our goals in 2018. We invite all senior and department level leadership from hospitals to join us, so please pass this information along to your full leadership team.
The Annual Meeting will provide opportunities to learn more about the issues impacting your organization:
- In partnership with the state ACHE chapter, you can earn three hours of ACHE face-to-face credit learning how to lead our health systems toward population health with Dr. Jon Burroughs.
- Gene Woods, chairman of the American Hospital Association and President and CEO of Carolinas Healthcare System, will discuss the priorities of AHA as he challenges us to get involved in state and federal advocacy.
- Learn about the risks associated with cyber-attacks on clinical operations from an industry leader, David Finn of CynergisTek.
- Finally, to close out the event, be inspired to dream big and help others by best-selling author and national speaker, Ben Nemtin.
One thing I’d especially like to mention is the timing and format of the installation ceremony for the incoming SCHA Board Chair. This year, we opted to move this event to the evening of February 7 and have invited past Board leadership to attend. This will be a brief but meaningful ceremony as we acknowledge the leadership of past Board chairs, look back at 2017 under Chairman Jim Pfeiffer, and look toward the coming year under the leadership of Dr. Pat Cawley. Please join us for the ceremony to lend your support to current and past SCHA leadership.
