On February 13, about 30 Upstate LPC members gathered at the BMW Family Health Center in Greer, SC, for a tour of the new facility. The Center opened in January 2013 and provides BMW associates, eligible retirees, and their dependents with a comprehensive health and wellness center. The 25,000 square foot facility offers onsite pharmacy, vision, dental, physical therapy, primary care, and occupational health services.
The center is managed by Walgreen’s Take Care Health Systems and is among just a few health centers across the U.S. that offers such an array of services under one roof exclusively for on-site corporate use. A press release providing additional details about the Center and its official opening is linked below.
After the tours, the group moved to the BMW Zentrum Museum for heavy hors d’oeuvres and a PowerPoint presentation by BMW and Walgreens leaders. The presentations focused on the planning and development of the center, the cost savings projected from on-site services, and the need for BMW to manage the rising costs of their employees’ health care costs so that the company can stay competitive in a world market. It was a great chance for healthcare executives to hear directly from a large manufacturer about their need to manage the costs of health services and to elevate the wellness of their workforce.
